No - ski pass insurance, such as Carré Neige, is not included in your booking with Heidi.
What is Carré Neige?
Carré Neige is an optional insurance offered in many French ski resorts. It covers the cost of rescue on the mountain (for example, if you are injured and need to be brought down by ski patrol), as well as some medical expenses and repatriation costs.
If you would like Carré Neige, you can usually add it directly at the ski pass office in the resort when you collect your lift pass. Prices vary by resort, but it’s normally a small daily fee.
Other countries
Different countries have their own versions of mountain rescue or ski pass insurance, which can also be added locally in resort:
Andorra – Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance, including ski and rescue coverage.
Austria – Many skiers use the “Bergrettung” (Mountain Rescue) cover, available locally
Italy – Some regions require insurance by law. It can often be purchased at the lift pass office for a small daily fee.
Norway – Rescue is provided by local emergency services, meaning you usually won’t incur rescue charges if you need help. That said, medical treatment, evacuation, or repatriation beyond rescue may not be covered, so it's still essential to have travel insurance that includes emergency medical assistance and winter sports coverage.
Switzerland – We strongly recommend that customers arrange comprehensive accident insurance that explicitly includes mountain rescue or emergency evacuation.
Our recommendation
As per our Booking Conditions, adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with us. We strongly recommend that all customers arrange travel insurance which includes:
Winter sports or extreme sports cover (to ensure skiing/snowboarding is covered)
Mountain rescue
Medical and repatriation costs
Weather disruption (for example, if ski areas close due to bad weather)
If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.
Having the right cover means you can enjoy your holiday knowing you’re protected if the unexpected happens.
