Do I need travel insurance, and can I arrange it through Heidi?

Adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with us. You must have suitable insurance in place before you travel. Without it, you may be personally liable for significant costs in the event of illness, injury, cancellation, or other unforeseen events. Please read our booking conditions.

Please note that you cannot buy travel insurance through Heidi. You will need to arrange a suitable policy yourself with a specialist insurer.

Why is travel insurance essential?

Travel insurance protects you against unexpected events before and during your trip: medical emergencies, cancellations, lost baggage, and more. The level of cover you choose is your decision, but having a comprehensive policy is essential for your safety and peace of mind.

When should I buy travel insurance?

We would recommend buying it as soon as you have booked your holiday. If you become ill or injured before travelling and don't yet have insurance, you won't be covered for cancellation costs. Buying insurance early ensures you're protected from the outset.

Do I need winter sports cover?

Standard travel insurance does not always cover winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding. If you're planning any winter sports activities:

  • Make sure your policy includes winter sports cover.
  • Confirm your policy covers medical and mountain rescue expenses in the event of an accident.
  • If skiing or snowboarding off-piste, only go with a qualified guide.
