If early check-in isn't available, accommodations can sometimes help while you wait:

• Luggage storage: often available at reception, but confirm with the accommodation beforehand. The local tourist office sometimes has luggage storage facilities as well. 
• Early key collection: sometimes possible, but only once your room or apartment is cleaned and ready. This is at the reception team's discretion.
• Shared spaces: some hotels let you wait in the lobby or communal areas. Be aware that a few close during the day (over lunch, for example) and reopen later for check-in.

If you arrive before reception opens:

• Ask the local tourist office whether they can store your luggage for a while.
• Or find a nearby cafe or restaurant and take a break until reception opens.
