How to Make Your Ski Holiday More Eco-Friendly
There are lots of small changes you can make that add up to a big difference:
Before booking:
Choose coach travel, shared transfers, or self-drive instead of flying.
Look for eco-certified or “green” resorts (e.g. Flocon Vert in France).
Before you go:
Borrow or buy second-hand ski clothes/gear. Renting is a great option, especially for kids.
Pack light and bring a reusable water bottle.
Support sustainable brands that use recycled or durable materials.
On holiday:
Rent equipment instead of buying new.
Repair or recycle damaged kit rather than binning it.
Shop local to cut down on transport emissions.
Recycle rubbish and choose zero-waste snacks.
Opt for eco-friendly ski wax if using it.
Turn heating down a degree or two and reuse towels/linen where possible.
Extra tip: buying pre-worn kit or donating yours when you’re done keeps items in use for longer and helps reduce landfill.
